Free Contemporary Jazz Classes with Becca Lemme

Free Modern Dance Class with Kim Brooks Mata!

Come start spring quarter off right with a FREE modern dance class taught by Kim Brooks Mata! All levels are welcome--just wear clothes you can move in.

When: Wednesday, March 30th, 8:00 p.m. - 9:45 p.m.
Where: BARS (1st floor of Bartlett)

Kim Brooks Mata has studied dance both nationally and internationally. After having received her BA degree in Art History with a minor in Dance from the University of Kentucky, she studied at the Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands. Upon her return from Europe, Kim attended the University of Utah where she received her MFA in Modern Dance. In addition to her MFA, she is a certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst (CLMA) and incorporates this valuable system into her teaching, performing and choreographic endeavors. Prior to moving to Chicago in late 2007, Kim performed professionally with multiple companies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and was the project administrator for the non-profit dance organization Bay Area National Dance Week. She has taught at the University of Utah, California State University East Bay, the University of San Francisco, and the University of Chicago. At the moment, she is freelance teaching and choreographing. Kim is fascinated with dance performance, its use for self-exploration and its role in culture and community.

UC Dancers Winter Concert, CITY LIFE, February 25th - 27th



UC Dancers' Annual Winter Concert, "City Life," is happening February 25th - 27th in the Bartlett Arts Rehearsal Space (BARS, first floor of Bartlett).

Come see a collection of student choreography and an original piece by professional choreographer, Brian Enos!

Performance times are:
8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25th
8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26th
1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27th

Tickets are $5 for Students/$7 General Admission, and will be on sale at the door and in the Reynolds Club 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22nd - Friday, Feb. 25th.

Brian Enos's piece is made possible, in part, by UT/TAPS and the Student Fine Arts Fund.

Mandatory Showing on February 13th

For those of you in our winter concert, City Life, we will be having our second and final showing Sunday, February 13th 5-7 p.m. in the Ratner Dance Studio. The showing should be a fun, relaxed opportunity for dancers and choreographers to bond and get some feedback before our performance 8th week. This showing is required for all dancers in the concert--please tell Janet AND your choreographer ASAP if you have a conflict.

More Fall Quarter Classes
